An exciting event - Year by Year since 1995
These workshops are concerned with the design of architectural membrane roof structures. For most people such roofs are typified by world famous sports stadia and temporary exposition structures. Although prestigious buildings of this type continue to utilise tensile roofing systems, the scope of application has widened considerably over the past decade. Today tensile roofs are routinely used in shopping centres, corporate headquarters, leisure centres, zoos, schools and even factories. With a combination of visually dramatic curvilinear form, and economic efficiency, such architectural solutions represent an attractive option for many situations.

The main objectives of this workshop are to provide fundamental information, as well as presenting the state-of-the-art in textile roof engineering. Above all, the workshop aims to provide practical answers to real-world questions.

About the Program Structure
Textile Roofs starts with an amazing presentation about The Lightweight Design Approach. On the evening of the first day an internationally renowned expertwill give us a special guest lecture with a deep inside view into amazing ideas and new technologies followed by a cozy Barbecue at the Workshop venue.
In addition to a comprehensive program of lectures presented in English by key figures from the membrane structure industry and academia, opportunity for study and hands-on development of practical case-studies in an informal tutorial environment is provided.
Amongst others the following subjects will be addressed in keynote lectures:
- Introducing Lightweight Structures
- Computational and Physical Modeling
- The Design of Tensile Architecture
- Recent Developments in Composites
- Variety of Membrane Structures
Our Speakers
The lecturers of Textile Roofs are specifically invited on the basis of their experience and skills in the topic they cover. They come from a large variety of expertise, from different fields of knowledge, diverse markets and noumerous professional catchment areas.

Worshop Activities
n addition to a comprehensive program of lectures presented in English by key figures from the membrane structure industry and academia, opportunity for study and hands-on development of practical case-studies in an informal tutorial environment is provided.
During the afternoons the hands-on workshop will run with opportunities for both physical and computational modeling. All participants will work on a joint project that is guided by one of our partners.
The workshop has three different strands:

- Hands-on (computational) Software Workshop given by technet GmbH, Germany
- Hands-on (physical) modeling Workshop
